CASS stall at O-Week !
About us
Who are we? And What do we do?
"CASS" stands for the Catholic Asian Students’ Society
(although it is not exclusively to Asians - token white people are more than welcome).
We are a university group run by students and assisted by mentors to share and grow in our Catholic faith.
Always: Charming, Alive, Stressfree, Special; we get the most out of life!
Our group holds a range of both fun and spiritual activities, always ensuring they are both enjoyable yet meaningful.
Bible sharings are held every week on a number of days to accommodate timetables for USYD students;
and inter-uni events are held with other CASS branches regularly (UTS, UNSW, and MACQ).
These include an annual retreat, music and games days, sports day, pool praise, walkathon, carolling etc etc... the list goes on!

cass history
Still unsure on who exactly we are?
Below is an article by our ever so wonderful 2002/2003 president, Olivia Choi,
which will hopefully give you a fuller picture of our history, our goals, things we do and hopes we share!
The current Catholic Asian Students' Society (CASS), established in 1991, is affiliated to the Pastoral Council,
under the Australian Catholic Chinese Community. It began with the formation of a Central committee in 1991,
followed by the formation of four university branches:
UNSWCASS (1992)
USydCASS (1993)
MacqUCASS (1994)
UTSCASS (1995)
At present, CASS hosts weekly bible sharing sessions and other fun activities regularly at each university.
Larger-scale joint events, such as retreats and annual dinners are organised by the Central committee.
In USydCASS, we strive to share with all fellow members our experiences of the love and joy of living the life of Christ.
Through different activities, such as weekly bible sharing, community service, retreats,
and occasional sporting and social activities, we hope to strengthen the bonding within the group,
as we get to know each other better and give each other support and comfort in times of stress,
such as during the busy times of exams that all of us have to go through!
As well, through sharing our own personal experiences and reflections on different Bible sharing topics each week,
we hope that we can help each other learn more about our faith and form a closer relationship with God.
We hope to welcome more new members, especially first year students, and give them spiritual guidance and support as they
journey their way through university.
We hope that together in this CASS family, we can grow together as brothers and sisters in Christ,
reaching out and sharing the love of God with more people, and letting the wonders of God work within us! |
